Check Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) List 2024

The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is a housing initiative launched by the Indian government on June 25, 2015. Its primary goal is to provide homes for underprivileged individuals who lack housing, targeting both urban and rural areas. This program is a continuation of the Indira Awas Yojana, which was established in 1985 and subsequently renamed to Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in 2015.

Objective of PM Awas Yojana 2024

The primary aim of the scheme is to offer financial support for housing construction. Under this program, beneficiaries receive ₹120,000 for building homes in plain areas, while those in hilly or challenging terrains are granted ₹130,000 to account for the increased construction difficulties and costs in these regions.

PMAY 2024 aims to provide permanent housing for economically disadvantaged and lower-income groups in India. The program assists people from both rural and urban areas in acquiring their own homes, enhancing their living security. Under this initiative, beneficiaries will receive permanent housing, with the scheme’s benefits available through December 31, 2024. The government has approved the construction of 12.2 million (1.22 crore) new houses under the PMAY program.
