How to Apply Online for a New Voter ID Card
- Step 1:- Open the App Store or Play Store App in your device that you use then install the ‘Voter Helpline’ App provided by the Election Commission of India.
- Step 2:- After the app has been successfully installed, launch it and select “I agree” button to accept the terms and conditions and then After Click on “Next” button.
- Step 3:- Now select the language in which you want to run the application and then click on the “Get Started” Button. You can choose any language of the given 12 languages as per your wish.
- Step 4:- Now on the new page under the “Personal vault section” you will have to click on the ‘Voter Registration’ option.
- Step 5:- Then After click on the option of “New Voter Registration” (For Form 6).This form is used to make a new voter card.
- Step 6:- Now click on “Let’s Start” option.
- Step 7:- A new interface will now be opened Enter your mobile number and click on “Send OTP” Button. Keep in mind that you should enter the same mobile number which you want to give in the Voter ID card. Now a new page will open in front of you where in the Enter OTP section, enter the OTP received on your mobile number and then click on the “Verify OTP” Button.
- Step 8:- Now a new page will open where you will see two options :-
i. Yes, I am applying for the first time
ii. No, I already have Voter ID Card
Out of these two option you have to choose the first option and then click on the “Next button” given below.
- Step 9:- Then Select your State, District and Assembly Constituency and enter your correct date of birth in the “Date of Birth” section and select any document confirming your date of birth in the Select Date of birth section. You can upload PAN Card, Aadhar Card, Birth Certificate etc. in the documents.
But in this article we are using Aadhaar card. If you want, you can choose any document as per your wish.
Now upload a photocopy of your selected document by clicking on the “Upload” section. After completing the entire process correctly, and then after click on the “Next” button.
- Step 10:- Now on the new page you will have to upload your photo this photo will be printed on your Voters ID. Now scroll down a little and then select your gender and then enter your full name. (Remember that you will have to enter your name exactly as per your Aadhar card)
Once you type your name in English it will be automatically entered in Hindi. So just check your spelling in Hindi and then click on the ‘Next’ button.
- Step 11:- Now you have to give information about someone close to you. In the Relation Type section, select a person whose voter card is already made. Now in the Enter Voter ID section below, enter the Voter ID number (EPIC) of the person selected in the Relation type section. Now enter the name of your selected relative in the Name of Relative section and then after click on “Next” Button.
- Step 12:- Now a new page will open in front of you where you have to give the correct address of your home. Fill all the address columns shown on that page correctly and select the document confirming your address in the Select Address Proof section shown below and upload a photo copy of that document by clicking on the Upload option and then Click on “Next” Button.
Note: Remember that you will have to upload self-attested documents which means that you will have to take a Xerox copy or a color printout of the document and then you will have to sign on it. And then scan the document/take a photo on mobile and upload it.
- Step 13:- Now the last part is the declaration. Here first you will have to choose your district, state, village, or town and your date of birth. Now you will have to enter your full name and your current residency location.
Once you are done, entering these details, click on the ‘Done’ button.
The entire form filled by you will open in front of you. You should re-check all the information given in the form correctly. If everything is correct then click on “Confirm” option otherwise edit your form again.
- Step 14:- After submitting the form, you will be given a reference ID here you have to save it. Because you will need that reference ID to check the status later and to check if there is any problem with the form.
- Step 15:- Then after Return to the home page, and click on “Explore” option. There will be a drop-down menu, and you need to click on “Status of application” option.
- Step 16:- You may now check the status of your voter card by entering your reference ID and selecting the “Track Status” option.
About 15 to 30 days after the application, the documents will be verified and a message will come on your mobile that the voter card is ready, after the card is ready, you can download the digital copy of the card on the same dashboard. And the offline card will be sent to your address in about 3 to 6 months.
