Aadhaar Card Update Process : The Aadhaar Card is required for any government scheme or booking train tickets. Many people have not yet updated their Aadhaar card, so in this situation, UIDAI is providing the facility to update the Aadhaar card for free. However, this free update facility is available only until March 14, 2024, after which charges will have to be paid for online updating.

How to Update Address in Aadhaar Card :
It is essential to update your biometric data on your Aadhaar card. While doing so, you should also keep your demographic details, such as your address, up-to-date. The official UIDAI website provides a systematic method for changing the address on your Aadhaar Card Online :
Step 1 : Visit the My Aadhaar portal online – https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/ – the official UIDAI portal and log in to your account.
Step 2 : Click on ‘Address Update.’
Step 3 : Select the ‘Update Aadhaar Online’ option to proceed with the address-updating process. Read through the instructions to understand what you need to do to change your address on your Aadhaar Card. Click on ‘Proceed to Update Aadhaar.’
Step 4 : Carefully enter the new address details and upload the necessary documents for Aadhaar card address change.
Step 5 : Complete the process by paying the nominal fee of ₹50.
Step 6 : Upon submission, a Service Request Number (SRN) will be provided. It is essential for checking the status of your Aadhaar address update in the future.
Step 7 : Once the internal review is complete, you will receive a confirmation SMS.
How to Update/Change Photo in Aadhaar Card :
To update your details, including your photograph, on your Aadhaar card, you can visit a nearby Aadhaar Enrollment Center. Follow these steps to change the photo on your Aadhaar Card :
Step 1 : Locate a nearby Aadhaar Enrollment Center or Aadhaar Sewa Kendra in your area.
Step 2 : Download the Aadhaar Enrollment/Correction/Update Form from the UIDAI’s official website.
Step 3 : Carefully and diligently fill out the required information on the form.
Step 4 : Submit the completed form to the center executive and provide your biometric details (fingerprints/iris scan).
Step 5 : The executive will capture your new live photograph.
Step 6 : You will need to provide your biometrics again to approve and verify your details.
Step 7 : Pay a fee of Rs. 100 to get your details updated on the Aadhaar card.
Step 8 : You will receive an Acknowledgment slip containing an Update Request Number (URN).
Step 9 : Use the Update Request Number (URN) to check the status of your Aadhaar update request on the UIDAI portal.
How to Change Name in Aadhaar Card :
Step 1 : Obtain the Aadhaar Enrollment and Update Form by downloading it from the official UIDAI website.
Step 2 : Locate an Aadhaar enrollment center or Aadhaar Sewa Kendra (Service Center) near you and visit it in person.
Step 3 : Carefully fill out the required information on the form and hand it over to the executive at the center.
Step 4 : Provide your original proof of identity document to the executives. They will make a photocopy of it and return the original document to you.

If you need to update your Date of Birth on your Aadhaar Card, you will need to visit the nearest Aadhaar Enrollment Center and bring eligible supporting documents. You can find the list of acceptable documents for this purpose on the UIDAI website. Follow the step-by-step process outlined below to update or change your Date of Birth on your Aadhaar Card :
Step 1 : Locate and visit the nearest Aadhaar Enrollment Center in your area.
Step 2 : Fill out the Aadhaar Update Form/Aadhaar Correction Form available at https://uidai.gov.in/images/aadhaar_enrolment_correction_form_version_2.1.pdf
Step 3 : Submit the completed form along with documentary proof of your Date of Birth.
Step 4 : To authenticate and verify your identity, you must provide your biometric data (fingerprints and iris scan).
Step 5 : You will receive a receipt containing an Update Request Number (URN). You can track the status of your Aadhaar update request online using this URN.
Step 6 : Pay a fee of Rs. 50 to the executive at the center.
Step 7 : Within 90 days, your Date of Birth will be updated on your Aadhaar card.

How to Apply for Aadhaar Card Online ?
- Step 1 : Find an Aadhaar Enrolment Center near you by visiting official website of UIDAI.
- Step 2 : Fill the enrolment form by providing all the correct information. You can get the format https://uidai.gov.in/images/aadhaar_enrolment_correction_form_version_2.1.pdf.
- Step 3 : Submit the duly filled form by attaching all the supporting documents like identity proof and address proof.
- Step 4 : Once the documents are accepted, you need to submit your biometric data along with your fingerprint and iris scan.
- Step 5 : Next, collect the acknowledgement slip which contains a 14-digit enrolment number. You can use this number to check your Aadhaar card status.
The Aadhaar card will be delivered to your address within 90 days.
How to Apply for Child Aadhaar Card :
- Step 1 – Go to your closest Aadhaar Enrollment Center. You can also find one online.
- Step 2 – Complete the Aadhaar Enrollment Form, providing your Aadhaar number.
- Step 3 – When enrolling kids below 5 years old, one parent must give their Aadhaar card details.
- Step 4 – The officials will take a photograph of your child.
- Step 5 – Enter the address and other personal demographic information.
- Step 6 – Provide a copy of your child’s birth certificate or hospital discharge papers.
- Step 7 – You’ll get a receipt slip with the enrollment number to track your Aadhaar card status.
Note : For kids under 5, fingerprints and iris scans are not captured. The Aadhaar card gets issued within 90 days.

How to Order PVC Aadhaar Card :
- Visit the official UIDAI website: Go to the official Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) website at uidai.gov.in to initiate the process.
- Locate the PVC Aadhaar card section: Navigate to the section related to ordering a Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Aadhaar card on the website. This can typically be found under the ‘My Aadhaar’ section.
- Enter your Aadhaar number or VID and security code: Provide your 12-digit Aadhaar number or virtual ID (VID) along with the security code displayed on the screen.
- Generate OTP : You will receive a One-Time Password (OTP) on your registered mobile number. Enter this OTP to verify your identity.
- Select the PVC card option: After successful authentication, select the option to ‘Order Aadhaar PVC card’.
- Make the payment: A nominal fee is charged for ordering the PVC Aadhaar card. Choose your preferred payment method and complete the transaction.
How to Check PVC Aadhaar Card Status Online :
- Visit the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) website: Go to https://uidai.gov.in/.
- Click on ‘Check Aadhaar PVC Card Status’ under the ‘My Aadhaar’ section.
- On the new page, click on ‘Check Aadhaar PVC Card Order Status’.
- Enter your Service Request Number (SRN) and the Captcha code displayed on the screen.
- Click on ‘Submit’ to view the current status of your Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Aadhaar Card order.
How to Check Aadhaar Update Status Online :
- Navigate to the official Aadhaar Self Service Update Portal at https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/check-status.
- On the page, you will find two input fields: “Aadhaar Number” and “URN” (Update Request Number). Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number in the first field and the URN you received when you submitted your update request in the second field.
- Type the security code exactly as it appears on the page.
- After entering all the required information, click the “Submit” button.
- Upon submission, the portal will display the current status of your Aadhaar card update request. It will indicate whether your request is still under review or if it has been approved and your details have been updated.
- Please note that processing the update request may take some time before the changes are reflected in the system. The duration for an update to be approved can vary, so exercise patience while checking the status periodically.
- If you have misplaced or lost your URN, you can retrieve it from the Aadhaar Self Service Update Portal by clicking on the “Retrieve Lost URN” option and following the on-screen instructions.
- Alternatively, you can check the status of your Aadhaar update via SMS by sending a text message in the format “UID STATUS ” to 51969 from your registered mobile number.
