What is Maharashtra Lek Ladki Yojana ?
The Maharashtra Lek Ladki Yojana, launched by the Maharashtra government, aims to provide financial assistance for the health, nutrition, and education of daughters from economically weaker families in the state. Through this scheme, all eligible daughters are provided with a total of 101,000 rupees in different installments from birth until they reach 18 years of age. The disbursement begins with an initial amount of 5,000 rupees given at the time of the daughter’s birth.
The Lek Ladki Yojana will play a crucial role in eliminating negative attitudes towards daughters in society. The financial assistance provided under this scheme is sent to the beneficiary’s bank account in five installments. The first installment of 5,000 rupees is given at the daughter’s birth, and the final installment of 75,000 rupees will be given when the daughter completes 18 years of age. This scheme was announced by the then Finance Minister Devendra Fadnavis in the 2023-24 budget speech. Although online applications are not yet being accepted, any eligible person can download the application form and apply offline.

Benefits and features of Maharashtra Lek Ladki Yojana :
- The benefits of this scheme will be given only to daughters.
- Only daughters born in families with yellow and orange ration cards in the state will be eligible for this scheme.
- Upon the birth of a daughter, her parents are given assistance of 5000 rupees.
- After this, when the daughter is admitted to the first grade, 4000 rupees are given.
- The third installment of 6000 rupees will be given upon entering the sixth grade.
- The fourth installment will be 8000 rupees, given when the girl enters 11th grade.
- The fifth and final installment will be 75,000 rupees, which will be given for the daughter’s higher education or marriage. However, the girl must be 18 years old for this.
- This scheme will eliminate negative attitudes towards the birth of daughters and help prevent crimes like female feticide.
- It will promote education for daughters and help them become self-reliant.
Eligibility Criteria
- The person applying should be a resident of Maharashtra.
- Only daughters born in yellow orange ration card holding families are eligible to avail the benefits of this scheme.
- The annual income of the beneficiary daughter’s family should not exceed Rs 1 lakh.

- To apply for Maharashtra Lek Ladki Yojana, first get the application form of the scheme from any government department.
- Here, you will get the application form for the Maharashtra Lek Ladki Yojana.
- Now, carefully enter all the information requested in the form, such as – daughter’s name, parents’ names, address, Aadhar card details, date of birth, bank details, etc.
- Then, attach the necessary documents with the form.
- After completing the form, submit it to the Anganwadi center or the Lek Ladki Yojana office.

Some Special Rules :
- In the case of twin daughters, both girls will receive the benefit of this scheme.
- In the case of twins, if one girl and one boy are born, only the daughter will receive the benefit.
