Majhi Kanya Bhagyashree Yojana 2024

The “Majhi Kanya Bhagyashree Yojana” (My Fortunate Daughter Scheme) was launched by the Maharashtra government on April 1, 2016. Its aims were to improve the gender ratio and promote women’s education. Under this scheme, if parents undergo sterilization within one year of their daughter’s birth, the government deposits 50,000 rupees in a bank account in the girl child’s name.

The scheme, also known as “Majhi Kanya Bhagyashree Yojana,” extends its benefits to families with two daughters. If parents opt for family planning after the birth of their second daughter and undergo sterilization, the government deposits 25,000 rupees each in bank accounts for both girls.

Majhi Bhagyashree Kanya Yojana 2024

Under this scheme, benefits are provided to only two daughters of a single individual in Maharashtra. According to the Majhi Bhagyashree Kanya Yojana 2024, parents must undergo sterilization within 1 year after the birth of their first daughter. For the second daughter, sterilization is mandatory within 6 months of her birth.

Initially, this scheme was only for families below the poverty line (BPL) with an annual income up to 1 lakh rupees. However, under the new policy for Maharashtra Majhi Bhagyashree Kanya Yojana 2024, the annual family income limit has been increased from 1 lakh rupees to 7.5 lakh rupees. Now, families in Maharashtra with an annual income of up to 7.5 lakh rupees are eligible for this scheme.

Objective of the Majhi Kanya Bhagyashree Yojana

Recognizing these issues, the Maharashtra government launched the Maharashtra Majhi Bhagyashree Kanya Yojana 2024. The scheme aims to improve the gender ratio, prevent sex determination, and stop female feticide. Through this MKBY 2024, the government seeks to promote education for girls and change the negative mindset of people in the state.
