Workers in the unorganized sector face many economic difficulties. To address these difficulties, the government operates various types of schemes. The central government has also launched the Shram Yogi Mandhan Yojana. Through this scheme, pension will be provided to all those unorganized sector workers whose monthly income is ₹15,000 or less. The announcement to start this scheme was made by Union Minister Piyush Goyal on February 1st. The benefits of the Shram Yogi Mandhan Yojana can be availed by workers in unorganized sectors such as drivers, rickshaw pullers, cobblers, tailors, laborers, domestic workers, brick kiln workers, etc.
Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Mandhan Yojana 2024
The Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Mandhan Yojana was implemented on February 15th. Under this scheme, beneficiaries will be given a monthly pension amount of 3000 rupees after the age of 60 years. To apply under the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Mandhan Yojana 2024, the age of beneficiaries should be between 18 years to 40 years. Government employees, members of Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF), National Pension Scheme (NPS), and Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) cannot avail the benefits of this scheme. The labor workers joining this scheme should not be income tax payers.
Objective of Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Mandhan Yojana
The main objective of the PMSYM Yojana is to provide financial assistance to workers in unorganized sectors by giving them a pension amount of Rs. 3000 after the age of 60 years. Through this scheme, beneficiaries can sustain their lives in old age and meet their financial needs with the money received. The Shram Yogi Mandhan Yojana 2024 aims to make labor workers self-reliant and empowered. The Government of India wants to benefit all poor and labor workers through its government schemes and provide financial assistance to them.
Benefits of Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Mandhan Yojana
- The benefits of this scheme will be provided to workers in unorganized sectors of the country such as drivers, rickshaw pullers, cobblers, tailors, laborers, domestic workers, brick kiln workers, etc.
- Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries will be given a monthly pension amount of 3000 rupees after the age of 60 years.
- In the PM Shram Yogi Mandhan Yojana, the government contributes an equal amount to your account as you contribute.
- After your death, your wife will receive half the pension, 1500 rupees, for life.
- Under this scheme, the 3000 rupees amount given by the government will be transferred directly to the beneficiaries’ savings bank account or Jan Dhan account through auto-debit facility.

Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant should be a worker from the unorganized sector.
- The monthly income of workers in unorganized sectors should not exceed 15,000 rupees.
- The applicant’s age should be between 18 to 40 years.
- The most important condition is that you should not be an income tax payer.
- The eligible person should not be covered under EPFO, NPS, and ESIC.
- The subscriber must have a mobile phone and Aadhaar number (Aadhaar Card).
- A savings bank account is also mandatory for the scheme.

How to Apply for Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Mandhan Yojana ?
- Interested beneficiaries who want to apply under the Shram Yogi Mandhan Yojana must first go to the nearest Jan Seva Kendra (public service center) with all their documents such as Aadhar Card, Bank Passbook, Mobile Number, etc.
- After this, the applicant needs to submit all their documents to the CSC (Common Service Centre) officer. Then, the CSC Agent will fill out your form and provide you with a printout of the Application Form.
- After this, take the printout of the application form and keep it safe for future reference. This way, your application for the PMSYM Scheme will be completed.
Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Mandhan Yojana Self-Enrollment
- First, you need to go to the official website of Shram Yogi Mandhan Yojana.
- Now the home page will open in front of you.
- On the home page, you will need to click on the “Click Here To Apply Now” link.
- On this home page, you will see the option “Click here to apply now”. You need to click on this option. After clicking on the option, the next page will open in front of you.
- On this page, you will see the Self Enrollment option. You need to click on this option. After clicking on the option, you will have to enter your Mobile Number. Then you need to click on the Proceed button.
- After clicking the button, you will need to enter your name, email ID, and captcha code on the screen, and then click on the “Generate OTP” option. Then you will need to enter the OTP and click on verify.
- After this, you will need to fill out the rest of the application form. You will need to upload the required documents in the JPIG Form. Then, after review, you will need to submit the application form.
- After this, take a printout and keep it safe.
